DESIGNART Tokyo 2020の会場のひとつ、Vanmoof 東京ブランドストアにて展示します。
Vanmoofはいま話題のオランダ発の電動自転車で、DESIGNART会期中は会場から会場への移動のために借りることができます。

東京の街を歩き回り、自転車でかけめぐり、思考の中を旅して、アイデアや構図がなかなか見出せないブロックみたいな時期を経て笑、いつもとは違ったアプローチでかなり大きな作品をつくりました。

実際に見た風景をコラージュしたり、見たものから見なかったものを作り出していると、学生のころ描いた作品をおもいだしたり。前に進んでいるのか過去に戻っているのか、同じところをぐるぐるしてるのか。。あたしはついにはどこへ向かおうとしてるんやろう。。

完成図がはっきり見えないまま描いたものをもとに次の線を描いていく作業は、そんな自分をどこかに導いてほしい、というあたしの願いがこめられてる気もする。あるいはその願いは、この描き出された街の中にまた迷い込んでいってしまうだけなのかな。

Showing my work at Vanmoof brandstore in Harajuku as part of DESIGNART Tokyo 2020. Vanmoof is a dutch electric bike company. You can ride their amazing bikes from venue to venue during the event.

While I was going through something like an artist block, I walked and biked a lot without a destination. I explored streets of Tokyo, both big and small, and brought pieces of the city back to my studio, where I would put them together on a large canvas.
I collage some of them together, creating a cityscape I didn't exactly see from what I actually saw. Buildings start gathering. Roads appear and disappear between them.

The drawing starts to remind me of what I used to make in school. Am I going forward or backwards? Or am I just going in circles? Perhaps working on this piece is me trying to find an answer for it. But then I get lost in the landscape again.
